How We Updated This Yorba Linda Front Yard

The homeowner came to us with two priorities: create more driveway space and reduce the amount of water needed to maintain the front yard. That required more than replacing the lawn. The concrete, planting, turf, and irrigation all needed to work together as one finished landscape.

Concrete Removal and Driveway Expansion

We began by removing a small section of the existing concrete. This allowed us to establish cleaner lines for the driveway expansion and create a more natural connection between the original driveway and the newly poured area. The additional concrete gives the homeowner more usable parking space without making the front yard feel pieced together.

Synthetic Turf and Drought-Tolerant Planting

The existing grass was replaced with TigerTurf Everglade Fescue Light synthetic turf. This gives the front yard a consistently green appearance without the watering, mowing, and seasonal decline associated with the previous lawn.

We also worked directly with the homeowner to develop a customized selection of colorful drought-tolerant plants. The new planting opens up the beds, introduces color throughout the yard, and complements the existing walkways, brick borders, and retaining walls.

New Irrigation and Organic Mulch

The old irrigation system was replaced with a new system designed to water the updated planting more efficiently. Once the plants and irrigation were in place, we finished the beds with a fresh layer of organic mulch to give the landscape a clean appearance and help protect the soil.

Together, these improvements created a front yard with more parking, less grass to maintain, and planting that is better suited to the homeowner’s goals.

The Completed Project

More Space and Less Upkeep

This renovation accomplished both of the homeowner’s original goals: creating more driveway space and reducing the amount of water and maintenance required by the front yard.

A Better Use of the Front Yard

The expanded concrete gives the homeowner additional parking, with straight edges that connect cleanly to the original driveway. Removing part of the existing concrete before pouring the new section helped the expansion look intentional rather than added on.

TigerTurf Everglade Fescue Light replaces the original lawn, while the new plant selection adds color around the driveway and entry. The updated irrigation system supplies water to the planting beds, and fresh organic mulch completes the installation.

The finished yard is easier to maintain, uses less water, and provides more functional space without removing the greenery that helps the front of the home feel welcoming.
