A Brighter Parkway for This Whittier Corner Lot

This homeowner was unhappy with the black decomposed granite and plants previously installed in her corner lot parkway. For this Whittier landscaping project, we cleared the existing materials and rebuilt the area with synthetic turf, a terraced wall, new slope planting, rock, and mulch.

Replacing the Existing Parkway

Removing the black decomposed granite and plants gave us a clean starting point. We installed Tiger Turf Cascade Light Fescue across the parkway to give the corner a brighter, green appearance.

Terracing the Corner Slope

The sloped corner needed a separate treatment from the flatter turf area. We built a terraced wall using Keystone Country Manor, creating defined levels for new planting. Homeowners considering a similar area can explore our ideas for a sloped yard for more ways to approach changes in elevation.

Planting and Finishing Materials

We installed new plants on the slope and finished that area with Mojave Spring rock. Mulch was added to the remaining planters. Together, the turf, terraced wall, and planting give this parkway landscape renovation a clearer layout and a more finished appearance.
