Drought-Tolerant Front Yard in Fullerton, California
A refreshed front yard featuring drought-tolerant plants, Netafim drip line, micro-spray emitters, and white river rock.
How We Updated This Fullerton Front Yard
This Fullerton homeowner wanted to refresh the appearance of the front yard while reducing the amount of water needed to maintain it. We updated the planting, irrigation, and ground covering to create a cleaner landscape suited to Southern California conditions.
Planning a More Efficient Front Yard
The project focused on improving the existing planting areas while working around the established lawn, walkways, brick borders, and mature tree. Each part of the installation was planned to complement the home and the features that were already in place.
Drought-Tolerant Plants and White River Rock
We installed a new selection of drought-tolerant plants throughout the front yard. The mix introduces different heights, forms, and shades of green while keeping the planting open enough for each plant to develop.
White river rock was added through the curbside planting area to create a clean contrast with the plants and existing concrete. Larger accent rocks were incorporated into the layout to give the finished landscape a more natural appearance.
Netafim Drip Line and Micro-Spray Emitters
A new irrigation system was installed using Netafim drip line and micro-spray emitters. This allows water to be delivered directly to the new planting areas instead of watering the entire landscape like a conventional spray system.
Together, the new irrigation, drought-tolerant planting, and white river rock gave the front yard a cleaner finish while helping the homeowner reduce ongoing water use.
