A Lower-Maintenance Landscape for a Fullerton Business
This business owner wanted to improve the appearance of their property while reducing landscape maintenance and water use. They were also concerned about recurring graffiti on the windows. For this Fullerton landscaping project, we developed a desert-inspired planting plan with a dense, thorny hedge along the windows.
Replacing the Lawn With a Desert Landscape
We replaced the existing grass and plants with a personalized selection of plants chosen for the business owner. The new landscape design creates a more intentional appearance while reducing the amount of lawn the property needs to maintain.
A Natal Plum Hedge Along the Windows
We selected Natal Plum for the hedge near the windows because its rigid, thorny stems provide a physical barrier. The planting addresses the owner’s concern about access to the windows while adding greenery to the building frontage.
Targeted Irrigation in Place of Overhead Sprinklers
The existing overhead sprinklers were replaced with a targeted drip irrigation system using 360-degree micro-spray emitters. This lets the irrigation serve the new planting layout rather than continuing to water the former lawn area.
Copper Canyon and Desert Gold Crushed Rock
To complete the installation, we used a combination of Copper Canyon and Desert Gold crushed rock. The two tones add contrast around the plants and give the finished commercial landscape a cohesive desert-inspired look.
