How We Rebuilt This Brea Front Yard
This Brea project involved a complete overhaul of the front yard. We replaced the existing driveway and walkways, created new steps and a sitting area, and updated the planting, lighting, drainage, and irrigation to bring the entire space together.
Removing the Existing Driveway and Walkways
We began by removing the original concrete driveway and front walkways. Clearing these areas allowed us to establish a new layout that connected the driveway, entry path, steps, and sitting area as parts of one finished design.
New Concrete With Orco Paver Accents
A new concrete driveway was poured with an Orco paver inlay running across the surface. The pavers add contrast to the concrete while visually connecting the driveway with the other areas of the front yard.
We used the same Orco pavers to border the new steps, curved walkways, and sitting area. Repeating the material throughout the yard gives each feature a consistent appearance without covering the entire space in pavers.
Lighting, Drainage, Irrigation, and Planting
A new low-voltage lighting system by FXL was installed using SP path lights, an RS light, in-grade step lights, and uplights. We also installed NDS drainage to help direct water away from the home and a full drip irrigation system for the new planting areas.
The project was completed with plants selected from a custom plant list and a fresh layer of mulch. Together, the new hardscaping and landscape improvements created a more useful front yard with clearly defined paths, comfortable gathering space, and lighting for safer movement after dark.
