Rain Sensors are easy to install on most controllers and will temporary shut off your system if it's raining. This way if it's raining and your asleep, at work or on vacation the sprinklers will not come on and you don't have to go out and shut off the controller, it's completely automatic. They run aprox. $ 95 - $125 depending the location of the controller
